What a whole house system does

Many homes in the US receive treated city water. That treatment adds chlorine so the water stays safe through miles of pipe, and in many areas the water also carries calcium and magnesium, the minerals that make water "hard".

A whole house system is installed where the water enters your home, outside or in the garage. From that point on, every shower, faucet, washing machine, dishwasher and water heater receives filtered, softened water. Nothing changes in how you use water at home. It simply arrives better.

  • Made for houses with access to the main water line
  • Treats all the water in the home, not a single faucet
  • Living in an apartment? The Reverse Osmosis is the right fit

Four stages inside one tank

The water passes through layered media from top to bottom. Each layer has one job.

  1. 1

    KDF 55 copper-zinc media

Removes over 99% of free chlorine and reduces water-soluble heavy metals, even in hot water. [1]

  2. 2

    Catalytic carbon

Activated carbon processed to adsorb chlorine and chloramine, improving the taste and odor of the water. [4]

  3. 3

    Ion exchange resin

Exchanges calcium and magnesium for sodium. This is what reduces hardness, the cause of limescale on glass, faucets and inside appliances. [5]

  4. 4

    Gravel base + brine tank

The gravel supports the media and spreads the flow evenly. The brine tank holds the salt the system uses to recharge the resin automatically. [5]

What you notice at home

  • No chlorine smell in the shower

Chlorine is filtered before the water reaches any shower in the home.

  • Fewer white spots

Less limescale on glass, shower doors, dishes and faucets.

  • Less buildup in appliances

Water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines receive softened water.

  • Softer feel on skin and hair

Softened, chlorine-filtered water in every shower and bath.

More than a water softener

A basic water softener only exchanges hardness minerals. The Whole House system softens the water and also filters chlorine and heavy metals, in the same tank.

Questions about the Whole House

A water softener only reduces hardness. The Whole House system reduces hardness and also filters chlorine and soluble heavy metals, all in one tank, treating every tap in the home.

Yes. The softening stage is recharged with salt from the brine tank. You add salt from time to time, and we show you how much and how often at installation.

The core components are independently certified: the Clack® WS1 valve to NSF/ANSI 44, 61 and 372, and the KDF 55 media to NSF/ANSI 42. Certification applies to each component, not to the assembled system as a single unit.
